This clarification follows on the heels of a firm identification of all material outside the six films and Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series as extra-canonical. A revised canon will be released at a later date. However, Disney and LucasFilms have reserved the right to pick and choose any of the EU lore to use for the new continuity if they so wish. Previous Expanded Universe stories taking place in this era are now regarded as Legends.
The new films supplant all previous Expanded Universe Changes lore and content taking place after Episode 6. The cast includes Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, and Adam Driver.
